We help children and teens build a voice that lasts, on a method every coach is trained in, a pathway with a real destination, and a relationship that makes them want to keep going.
When you book a singing lesson, you're choosing far more than a slot on a calendar. You're choosing a coach's ear, their judgment, their values, and whether they truly suit your child. Almost nobody helps you see that. We built Phoenix Voice Academy to change it.
Why it's different
A whole system, with a real person at the front
So your child gets one coherent education instead of five different opinions, and progress you can actually see.
One method, every coach
Every coach is trained in SGVT, our approach to how the voice really works. A PVA lesson is a PVA lesson whoever teaches it, so your child's education adds up instead of resetting each year.
A pathway with a destination
Intro Artist to Emerging Artist to Principal Artist, with a term-end recording at Intro and showcases from Emerging onward to give the weekly work direction. Clear steps, clear expectations, and a coach always walking your child toward the next one.
The right coach for your child
We match on personality and goals, not just who is free, because the relationship is the heart of the work and children grow for someone they trust.
Progress you can see
For the first time, your child's growth isn't just felt, it's measured. We track it through the method and show you, so you're never guessing.
How it's built
Three layers
The first two are the same for every singer and every coach. The third is the human who brings them alive in the room.
1
The Function
How the voice actually works
The voice types, the pivot points, the vowel arc, and the acoustics underneath. It's the reason a PVA lesson holds together no matter who is teaching, and it's now tracked, so progress is visible and durable rather than living in one coach's head.
2
The Journey
Where your child is going
The tier ladder and the showcases that give the weekly work a destination, so lessons never drift.
We never force a child onto a stage. Performance isn't what lessons are for. It's a milestone that pulls the work forward, and because our productions are genuinely high-calibre, that milestone actually motivates.
3
The Coach
The human, and the layer that matters most
The map and the road matter, but Layer 3 is the person who makes a child want to walk them. The craft is one judgment made over and over: the balance between comfort and challenge, read for your child today. Enough challenge to grow, enough warmth to feel safe doing it, and never one traded for the other.
The science underneath
A great voice isn't one fixed sound. It's the freedom to choose.
The voice is one instrument in three parts: the breath that powers it, the vocal folds that make the sound, and the throat, mouth and tongue that shape it. The instrument is the same in everyone. The path to using it well is different for every single singer.
We build the hard sound out of an easier one your child already owns, one reachable step at a time, and on Voice Day we can show you the progress on a picture of the sound itself.
Depending on what your child is ready for. Where a child starts, and when they move up, is a matter of genuine readiness, read by their coach, never time served.
Intro Artist
From $205every 4 weeks
✓A 30-minute private lesson each week, one-to-one with a trained coach
✓Matched to the right coach for your child
For singers finding their feet. This is the tier where reading readiness matters most, in both directions: drawing a nervous newcomer gently in, and spotting the singer who's ready faster than expected. Each term ends with a recording, for singers whose work has them ready for one. Your coach tells you where your child stands with eight weeks still to go. Intro isn't the "go easy" tier. It's the "get it right for this child" tier.
✓One Voice Report each term with Steve, author of the SGVT Method, who reads your child's voice and sets the direction
✓A termly showcase, with dress rehearsal and staging
For singers building on a foundation. Here we go function first: we build real capability the child can hear and feel, and let the song be the reward. This is the tier where the method's author reads your voice.
✓Two Voice Reports each term with Steve, at the start and mid-term
✓A 30-minute mentor session across the term with Jacqueline, our Artistic Director
✓A Record and Review loop, practice pods, a December feature, and public performance
Our most committed singers. Principal isn't bought, and it isn't a number of seats. It's earned, following your Voice Report, and it's where a singer gains a mentor. If your child is ready, they're ready.
A short Get Started form: pick a program and share a little about your child.

Good questions
Questions parents ask
How do you match my child to a coach?+
On personality and goals as well as availability, because the relationship does the heavy lifting. If a match isn't right, we'll change it.
What if my child's needs change?+
The pathway is built to flex. A coach is always reading where your child is and adjusting, and movement between tiers is about readiness, not a fixed timetable.
What actually happens in a lesson?+
Real technical work, built inside songs your child enjoys. We lead with the joy on purpose, because a child who loves it is a child who stays, and staying is how everything else has time to land.
Why SGVT?+
Because it gives your child a functional foundation that isn't tied to one style. A singer with real coordination can go anywhere, classical, pop, musical theatre, and it means every coach is listening for the same thing.
Do you teach online?+
Yes, on request. In practice most of our families choose in-person, because so much of the coaching lives in the in-person read of the voice in the room. But if online is what works for your family, just ask and we'll arrange it.
Can my child start as a complete beginner?+
Yes. Intro Artist is built for exactly that, and readiness is read carefully from day one.
What's the cancellation policy?+
Membership runs on a 4-week billing cycle, two terms a year of 16 weeks each. Once paid, membership fees are non-refundable.
Can we reschedule a lesson?+
Up to two lessons per term, with at least 24 hours' notice.
